The top two teams in The List have flip-flopped for a second consecutive week. This time Duke movesg back into the top spot while Kansas falls to No. 2.
Duke (15-0) returns to the top after beating UAB 85-64 and Maryland 71-64, while Kansas (15-0) drops a spot after whipping Missouri-Kansas City 99-52 then needing overtime to beat Michigan 67-60. Ohio State (16-0), Syracuse (16-0) and Purdue (15-1) round out the top five.
Villanova makes the biggest jump, going from No. 23 to No. 14 after beating South Florida on the road then handing Cincinnati its first loss of the season. The biggest faller is Central Florida, which fell out of the top 25 from No. 15 following its first loss of the season at Houston. Four teams join The List this week: West Virginia, Cincinnati, Florida and Texas A&M.
Unlike The Associated Press' media poll and USA Today/ESPN's coaches (re: sports information directors) poll, we take into account subjective data to present our weekly Top 25, a cross section of Ken Pomeroy's Pomeroy Ratings at kenpom.com, the Jeff Sagarin ratings for USA Today at usatoday.com, Team Rankings at teamrankings.com, Kyle Whelliston's State of Basketball rankings at basketballstate.com and the Ratings Percentage Index, more commonly known as the RPI, which can be found at various sources. We also project the 68 teams most deserving of being in the NCAA Tournament.
