Ohio State stays atop The List for a third consecutive week following a topsy-turvy Saturday full of upsets. The Buckeyes nearly got knocked off themselves but escaped with a 58-57 victory at Northwestern to improve to 22-0 after routing No. 10 Purdue 87-64 earlier in the week.
Joining Ohio State in the top five are Kansas (20-1), Pittsburgh (20-2), Texas (18-3) and San Diego State (21-1).
Louisville makes the biggest jump this week, onto The List at No. 15 after being unranked a week ago as the Cardinals knocked off No. 19 West Virginia and No. 12 Connecticut. Louisville is one of four new teams on The List along with Arizona, Utah State and Maryland.
Vanderbilt takes the biggest tumble, going from No. 14 to off The List following a loss to Arkansas on Saturday. The others who drop off are Saint Mary's, Cincinnati and Illinois.
Unlike The Associated Press' media poll and USA Today/ESPN's coaches (re: sports information directors) poll, we take into account subjective data to present our weekly Top 25, a cross section of Ken Pomeroy's Pomeroy Ratings at kenpom.com, the Jeff Sagarin ratings for USA Today at usatoday.com, Team Rankings at teamrankings.com, Kyle Whelliston's State of Basketball rankings at basketballstate.com and the Ratings Percentage Index, more commonly known as the RPI, which can be found at various sources. We also project the 68 teams most deserving of being in the NCAA Tournament.
